From Maspalomas to Arucas

Local insurance advice across Gran Canaria

Playa del Inglés and Maspalomas

Our office on Avenida de Tirajana is close to the apartments, bungalows and businesses of the south. If you live here year round, own a holiday home or run a local business, you can speak to us in person.

Las Palmas de Gran Canaria

City flats, shared buildings, parking spaces and daily driving raise different questions from a home in the south. We review your property, car and healthcare needs with your own routine in mind.

Mogán and Puerto Rico

For owners in Puerto Rico, Arguineguín and Puerto de Mogán, we pay particular attention to how a property is used, whether it is let to guests and how long it may stand empty.

Second homes and holiday lets

A property used only part of the year needs careful answers about empty periods, guest use, contents and liability. We check the policy terms against the way you actually use it.

Vecindario and Santa Lucía de Tirajana

For families who live here year round and commute across the island, we can compare health insurance and car cover around the people, journeys and vehicles involved.

Arucas, Teror, Firgas and Moya

Older homes, rural properties and outbuildings may need a closer look at what is insured and for how much. We ask about every building and review the sums insured with you.

Your contact in Gran Canaria

Personal advice in Playa del Inglés

Gran Canaria brings together busy southern resorts, the city of Las Palmas and rural communities inland. The insurance questions for a flat you live in throughout the year can differ from those for an apartment that stays empty for months or is let to guests.

Michael Dittkrist is your local contact at C1 Broker. From our Playa del Inglés office, he can discuss your needs in English, explain the relevant terms of a Spanish policy and help you with the next steps if you need to make a claim.

Why speak to a local broker?

Support beyond choosing a policy

Help when you need to claim

Tell us what happened in English. We can help you understand the insurer's process and the documents it asks for, and stay in touch as the claim progresses.

Options from several insurers

As a broker, we compare suitable policies from more than one provider. If your existing cover meets your needs, we will say so.

Clearer policy terms

Spanish policies can be difficult to navigate when English is your first language. We explain the relevant cover, limits and exclusions before you decide.

Authorised insurance intermediary

C1 Broker is registered with the Spanish insurance regulator, the DGSFP, under registration number J-3790.

Insurance that fits the way you live here

Many English speaking residents ask about health cover when moving to Spain, especially if they need to show evidence of cover for a residence application. The right answer depends on your circumstances and the requirements that apply to you. We can explain what a proposed policy includes, but you should confirm immigration requirements with the relevant authority or adviser.

For a car registered in Spain, we can help you arrange the required motor liability cover and consider additional protection. For a home, we look at ownership, contents, periods when it is empty and any guest use. For a business, we consider liability, property and the effect of an insured interruption. A low premium can hide a clinic you cannot use, an empty property exclusion or limited roadside help.

We work through those details with you. Ask us about health insurance, home insurance, car insurance and business insurance. We can also discuss life, boat, travel and pet insurance. Call +34 928 988 538 or email [email protected].

Frequently asked questions about insurance in Gran Canaria

Do I need private health insurance to live in Gran Canaria?

It depends on your status and entitlement to public healthcare. Some residence routes require evidence of suitable health cover, while people working and contributing in Spain may have access to the public system. We can compare private policies if you need one or want access to private specialists and clinics. Check the exact residence requirements with the relevant authority or adviser.

Usually, a community policy is intended for shared parts of a building, such as the roof, façade, stairs and common pipes. It may not cover your own contents, improvements or personal liability. We can review what the community policy actually says and help you assess any gaps.

Yes. A home you live in, a second home left empty for long periods and a property let to guests present different risks. Tell us how you use it so we can check guest liability, unoccupied periods and water damage terms against the proposed cover.

If your car is registered in Spain, it needs insurance valid for that registration, including the required third party liability cover. A UK policy may not meet the requirements for a Spanish registered car. We can help you compare Spanish options and check breakdown assistance, towing and replacement car terms.

We first review the renewal date and notice terms of your current policy. If another option is a better fit, we can help coordinate the switch and the start of new cover. Bring your existing policy and the details needed for a quote, such as your identification and the insured property’s or vehicle’s information.

Our office is at Av. Tirajana 16 Bj, 35100 Playa del Inglés, in San Bartolomé de Tirajana. Call +34 928 988 538 or +34 634 10 62 16, or email [email protected]. We can also speak by phone or video call if visiting is inconvenient.

We do not charge you for an initial conversation and comparison. As an insurance broker, C1 Broker is normally remunerated by the insurer through commission included in the premium. We will explain any specific cost or arrangement before you commit, and you are free to decide whether to proceed.
